Your active participation in the weekly
Discussion is important to the shared learning experience. Active discussion
also develops our community of budding counselors, therapists, and researchers.
Please participate as early in the week as possible, and be sure to share your
thoughts and ideas as often as you can throughout the unit.

Respond to the threads. Your original
response should be at least 350 words and should reflect the fact that you have
completed the assigned readings for the week. Remember, this is your chance to
illustrate not only your understanding, but also your mastery of the materials
for the unit. Use your words wisely so the posting has substance and includes
examples and explanations. Limit the use of direct quotes, and do your best to
critically evaluate and synthesize the literature in your own words wherever
possible. Make sure to include in-text citations and a reference list as
appropriate.

Consider an instrument in your area of
interest (you may use an instrument you have selected previously or locate a
new one), and discuss what may be potential sources of error variance that may
enter the test scores.

Think of a particular concept in your
area of interest. Design 10 individual items that you believe will tap into
that concept.

1.  How would you estimate the internal
consistency of these items?

2.  Which would be the best method for
investigating and establishing the internal consistency of your test items? Why
is it the best method?

3.  Are you measuring a dynamic or a static
characteristic? Explain your answer.
