Your initial response to the discussion question is due by Wednesday at 11:59 pm. Please also respond to at least 2 of your peers by Sunday at 11:59 pm. One of your two peer responses should be focused on a question other than the one you answered. Peer responses must be at least 75 words each.

1) Choose one piece of at or architecture from ancient Mesopotamia or Egypt and discuss what your chosen piece of art or construction can tell us about the civilization it came from. Give at least three examples, and be sure to post an image (or link to an image) of the object you are discussing.

2) How did geography influence the development of society, government, and culture in Mesopotamia and Egypt? Be sure to give examples for each civilization.

3) What role did writing play in the development of civilizations? What region did the first writing come from? What was the first written narrative? What was this epic about?
