Identifying Types of Persuasive Appeals

This assignment will allow you to practice identifying and analyzing the types of persuasive appeals you are learning about this week.

Review pages 216-217 on AIDA and emotional & logical appeals in Chapter 9 of our textbook.

Locate an online video advertisement that is five minutes in length or less.

Write a 350- to 500-word analysis of the types of persuasive appeals used in the advertisement or message. Are faulty logical appeals being employed? How do you know? (Be sure to provide a valid URL for the message at the end of your assignment.)

Include three paragraphs in your analysis:

• A description of the content of the message
• An evaluation of AIDA and the message’s call to action and whether or not it effectively motivates the viewer or listener to act upon the message
• An evalution of the emotional and/or logical appeals in the message
