The Final Paper will be an analysis of a formative work of English literature. For this paper, you will create an in-depth analysis of a central work that was studied in the course.

Choose a primary text studied during the course. Analyze how your chosen text is both influenced by and influential to the cultural values of the time in which it was written. Also, analyze how the author uses literary conventions to address political, philosophical, and religious trends of the historical period.

Research Topic: Beowulf: How do elements of religion/spirituality in Beowulf connect to political and philosophical systems of the Middle Ages?

The Final Paper:

Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length (excluding the title and references pages), and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Must include a title page with the following:

Title of paper

Student’s name

Course name and number

Instructor’s name

Date submitted

Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.

Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.

Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

Must use at least five scholarly sources, including a minimum of two from the Library.

Must document all sources in APA style

Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style
