1.) One of the goals of psychology is to describe behavior. For this activity, the description of the behavior is the chicken crossing the road. Next, psychology attempts to explain the behavior. Different schools of thought explain the behavior from a different angle. The behavior is the same (crossing the road), but the explanation for doing so is different.
Completing this assignment will allow you to demonstrate that you are able to:
- Identify psychological schools of thought, and their basic premises
- Describe two of the goals of psychology (describe, explain, predict, manipulate)
- Organize and accurately present material, and
- Apply APA formatting within the text and for end-of-text references, when appropriate.
Instructions:
- For each school of thought below:
- Give a brief description, in your own words, of the theory
- Detail the key points associated with the theory
- Use the following questions as a guide, providing complete answers:
- According to the theory, what led the chicken across the road?
- According to the theory, what motivated the chicken?
- According to the theory, what did the chicken get out of crossing the road?
